MUGAs offer a cost-effective solution to a wide range of sporting needs. Spade Oak Duracourt works in partnership with reliable and dedicated producers of sports surfacing systems to offer a full design and construction package. Our extensive range of multi-sport surfaces allows us to offer best value to meet a client’s particular requirements and to satisfy a number of criteria.

Deciding on the most appropriate surface for Multi-Use Games Areas involves some careful consideration. We advise that the principal activity be considered first and then consider what other uses could be built into a package to identify the most suitable surfacing option. Our expert team are on hand to advise you of all the options and only too happy to discuss your requirements with you further.

Spade Oak Duracourt are able to offer a complete installation package. In addition to the construction of surfaces we provide fencing, floodlighting, posts, nets and ancillary equipment.

Spade Oak Duracourt offers
multi-sport synthetic turf which
can be tailored to your exact needs
by varying the density, length and
composition of the pile. The
properties of the surface will also
depend heavily on the type and
make up of a shockpad layer. This
layer is valuable for reducing injury
risk and controlling ball bounce.

Traditional sand-filled turf is
popular for MUGAs and usually
provides the most economic
solution. Sand-dressed costs a
little more but, with a denser pile
and less sand in-fill, has a superior
appearance. With the addition of a
low sliding resistance yarn the extra
comfort will be immediately
apparent to all users.

Water-based pitches are ideal for hockey and can also be used for other sports in a “wet” or “dry” condition. The latest developments in synthetic grass are the Third Generation (“3G”) types. These have long pile versions with rubber/sand in-fill and can be used for football, rugby and training.

A porous macadam surface delivers a winning combination of all-weather playability, versatility and minimal maintenance. The relatively low cost of macadam surfaces makes them the most popular multi-use surfaces in the UK. Spade Oak Duracourt specialises in the provision of toughened specialist asphalts for heavy duty use such as car parking, exhibitions and roller sports. A wide range of sports can also be played on these surfaces.

Cushioned acrylic is a world class tennis surface used for the US Open but it also lends itself to netball, basketball, volleyball, kick-about and general training purposes.

The resilient surface helps to protect joints and gives full
ball bounce. A specially modified and toughened version has also been designed for “roller sports” applications.

A polymeric surface is an
all-weather, resilient option that
features good grip when wet and
a high degree of absorbency that
reduces injury risk and increases
comfort. Polymeric surfaces are
comprised of a recycled rubber
base and a coloured, hardwearing,
textured surface.
