CASE STUDY – Surfacing Business Park

Spadeoak was delighted to be the chosen surfacing contractor to complete the surfacing works to the access and egress roads, car park aisles and parking bays at the East Hordon Business Park situated in Brentwood.

The 124,038 sq ft “high-specification” industrial and logistics facility at East Horndon is based built where the A127 meets the A128 and is just three miles from junction 29 of the M25.

The 6,000+m² area required base, binder and surface course installation utilising sustainable, low carbon AC 32,20,14 and 10mm materials ranging in installation depths from 90mm-200mm.

This particular project saw a material carbon saving of 11%, over 12,000kgco2 was saved utilising the Spadeoak solution compared to the conventional material.

Our surfacing teams were tasked with surfacing the roadways, over 2,300m² with a 200mm treatment, this would include an AC32mm dense base course, a 60mm AC20mm dense binder course and a 40mm hot rolled asphalt (HRA) surface course. Utilising this depth and material would ensure efficiency and strength to the surface for vehicle weight, volume and turning pressure.

Spadeoak also completed works within the car park area itself, 100mm dense base course to over 2,100m² of car park aisles and over 1,600m² to the parking bays consisting of a 90mm treatment of binder and surface course.

The project was completed and handed back to a very happy client.
